Weekday News – October 2020

Halloween Fun
No amount of rain was going to dampen our Halloween spirit at Weekday! Although we were sad to miss out on an opportunity to see our families during the outdoor Halloween parade, we really enjoyed the Halloween treasure hunt through the school! All of the decorations in the classrooms and the gym and the most creative, fun costumes made for a really memorable couple of days at our school!

School Pictures on 11/12 and 11/13
Get your smiles ready! We will be having Irvin Simon back to take our school pictures this year on 11/12 and 11/13. The children will have an individual photo taken by a masked photographer while maintaining 6 feet distance. The photography area will be disinfected between each class. There will be no class photo this year. Irvin Simon will be making a collage of all of the individual photos from the class in place of the group shot.
You will be getting a flyer with a unique code that you can use to log on to the Irvin Simon website and see your child’s photos. You can order the photos through the website and they will be delivered to the school.
Please contact Christine with any questions.

Holiday Giving
Before we realize it, the holiday season will be upon us. Weekday has always held food and gift drives every year to support our neighbors in need and this year will be no different!
We will be organizing three different drives throughout the upcoming months. First – beginning 11/1, you can bring any books you may have in your house that are in good shape but no longer needed to the main entrance. There will be a box there for all donations. These donations will be picked up by the Northport Rotary and given to families in need throughout Long Island.
Our next drive will benefit the Northport Food Pantry in time for Thanksgiving. We will be sending out a list of foods that the pantry is in need of to make Thanksgiving happen for a lot of local families.
Finally, we will be working with the YDA and the local schools to provide gifts for the holidays for local families in need. We will be emailing you with a sign up for any needed gifts.
Thank you in advance for keeping this spirit of giving alive and well at Weekday!

Suggestions ALWAYS welcome!
Please feel free to contact Christine whenever you have any issues or suggestions. This year especially, we can’t see everyone and be in all of the entrances to chat with all of you. We really do welcome everyone’s ideas and suggestions.
